I have a very long list of people with there birthdays (date, month, year). I would like to:
1. Count how many people in the list were born on specific day (birthday- only day and month-no year) in order to send irthday greeting cards (need only number of people)
2. Is possible along with bithday dates to extract the name of the people- actually creating a new list of people born on this day.
I would like to sove these points with formulas
I tried to solve the problem with pivot table but without success.
Thanks in advance for the help
Please put up your spreadsheet.

Try the attached spreadsheet, it does most of what you want with formulas, however to get the list of names, requires you to use the Advanced Filter option in Excel. Instructions for the Advanced filter are within the spreadsheet.
I have created a dummy list of Names in cells A9 to A16, with dates next to them in column B. If you enter a birth day and month in cells B2 and B3, cell B4 will diplay the number of birthdays on this date.
The contents of G8:G??, will provide you with the list of names with the birthday entered into B2 and B3 using the Advanced Filter option (instructions in cell G1 to G5)

Gary
I adapted Gary's file to illustrate a possible Pivot approach.
