Hello,
I am looking for a way to format a cell, so that if the default value in it changes, it will still follow the same rule as was previously there if changed back to it's default value.
For example:
Cell A has formula =IF(SUM(D5)>=7.5;0;0.5)
Which means that if the previous cell were to equal 7.5, this cell would then change from .5 to 0.
If I were to type into Cell A .25, it would remove that formula. Afterwards, I type .5 back into Cell A. Since I previously removed the formula by typing .25, the cell would only show .5. My goal is that when I re-type .5 back into this cell, the formula would then re-appear and be applied to this Cell. Essentially, no matter what I do to Cell A, whenever I type .5, it re-applies my original formula.
If this is possible, and if anyone could help, I would extremely grateful. If you need additional info or would like to see the spreadsheet I am working off of, please feel free to ask.
Thank You!!
I think i understand what your trying to do, but please send a work book. if you read data from one spot into another cell and that cell does a calculation then you can't type over that cell.. you need to enter the data somewhere else. Send a work book though let me make sure i undersatnd what you are trying to do.
Unfortunately my excel file is at work, so all I have at this moment is the version my home laptop opens it as.(open office...?) If this does not work, I will reply with the excel version tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the reply cebubb.
