Unfortunately, I am stationed in Pakistan. Otherwise, I would have liked to attend such a workshop.

Excel Workshops

I personally like the idea of a face to face enconter, but feel that the cost of travel would outway the benefits. It sounds as though the intent is to create a pilot program that could be presented in small groups, regardless of locations, so long as a capable moderator is available. Almost like a short term study group. Just food for thought.

Sounds like a great idea and I'd definitely be interested, but I'd like to know what level of experience the workshops would be directed at?

Training

Hi,

This is really a novel idea but looking at the travel cost for most of the indivudial and also geographical location, its best to conduct a webcast which is interactive. Webcasts can be interactive (Chat room for talking and video for the presenter to answer the query raised.) Try and conduct this webcast on a Sunday, so that you may have more audience to the cast and can be made real sucess.

I hope you do look into this option as I would surely like to be part of the training that you are planning. This will surely help me get to learn excel better.

Regard,
Kailash (India)

Thumbs up Workshop

Hi Simon,

Great Idea, I always appreciate such kind of workshops. But because of too faraway, I am in Pakistan, it is not feasible to attend in UK. If the workshops are in Pakistan, I will attend it.

Thanks for your wiews.

Hope you start it in Pakistan

Why not use something like ‘Skype’ to run a workshop and you can reach the whole world.

'Skype' is an internet telephone service and is free providing it's between other Skype users.

All anyone needs is a microphone and a webcam (although optional but very useful) and away we go!
The tutor can turn the webcam to his screen to show all the points he wants to make. It's as near to face-to-face as you can get, really!

There's enough interest for both to be tryed out

Hi

Workshops are a great idea. Although online training does work it is really hard for a trainer to spot the delegate who is struggling and to quickly get them through the minor confusion before it becomes a major confusion.

I would be more than happy to volunteer to lead or help another who is leading, more trainers the merrier any VBA workshops online or offline. I'm based in the UK.

Excel Workshop - Great Idea

Obviously a great idea for all who participate in this forum. Many practical considerations need to be made. Members are scattered all over the Globe. WEB Seminar of some sort is the only way to go. If structured right, for various levels, I would surely attend a few sessions. On a scale of 1 - 10 [1 being a novice], I am probably a 3. I can definately benefit from sessions on formulas and some VBA.
Keep us posted on the progress.
Thanks,
modytrane

I think that to do all that you want to do in just 2 days is very ambitious. Functions alone could take a day. It's not just how does a function works, the users need to understand how to nest one or many functions within a function properly. I think you will only be able to just give users a taste of excel. I would focus on functions and charting first.

I would willingly travel anywhere in the uk with my laptop to attend a workshop. I find learning by practice very rewarding, and sometimes struggle with written instructions. I know Excel can do far more than i currently use it for, and would like to become more proficient by practice.
I do hope the workshop goes ahead.

Hi all.
I am back after a long absentee.I think this idea is excellent. If it's free or not expensive, i'd take part in. Of course,2 days is short but it's just a beginning. It depends on the level of the participants. In reason of the great number of functions, it will take time. But above all,the most important thing is method. If you don't know how to think or if you don't have method, it won't work.
