I have a worksheet that I've been struggling with the past couple of days...
As an example, I've detailed the following:
Forename, Pet Type, Pet1, Pet2, Pet3, etc
John, Dog, , , ,
John, Cat, , , ,
Karen, Rabbit, , , ,
Bob, Horse, , , ,
Bob, Pony, , , ,
Mark, Dog, , , ,
Mark, Dog, , , ,
Mark, Bird, , , ,
What I want to be able to do is run down column A to find the forename and then populate the "Pet1", "Pet2", "Pet3" (etc - max of 10) with the relevant values from Column B and then delete the duplicate row (after the "original") to show a single row for each forename.
Example Wanted Result:
Forename, Pet Type, Pet1, Pet2, Pet3, etc
John, Dog, Cat, , ,
Karen, Rabbit, , , ,
Bob, Horse, Pony, , ,
Mark, Dog, Dog, Bird, ,
Please, can anyone help?

Time to give me an infraction mate, this is as silly as OzGrid got, not allowing people to help when a guy asks a question.
Hope that helps.

No Roy I haven't been banned there, unlike you. But I do think the propensity to smack our bottoms and ban us is petty and childish. I understand you have to have rules, but it can be taken too far. You experienced that at Ozgrid, and this forum seems overly heavy-handed.
I was banned for disagreeing with Dave about his heavy handed treatment of members. I didn't say you were banned, I said I think DH would have banned you for your actions here if it was Oz. The rules are there and have been put together after much discussion between the Moderators.
Hope that helps.

We actively discuss among ourselves what consititutes reasonable enforcement, and think we have it about right. The wonderful thing is that you are free to choose a forum that suits your own interpretation, from monarchy to anarchy.I understand you have to have rules, but it can be taken too far.

I know exactly why you were banned Roy, and it was ridiculous (what sort of forum bans their own administrators?). And you are probably right, Dave would ban me if OzGrid was actually active enough for me to spend any time there, he has threatened it a couple of times but never actually done it, but therein lies the rub. OzGrid is dying because of that attitude. I understand people should not be rude, be offensive, and might even concede that there are some things off-topic (MIGHT!), but what did this guy get one for, a poor subject? Who cares about the subject in reality, very few people search the archive, they repeat the question - that's a fact of life. That is how Dave started.
It boils down to the fact that the admin here want to keep a tidy but friendly approach. As a result we need rules & we expect everyone to follow them. As shg says it's your choice.
Hope that helps.

But you should all remember that you are supposed to be doing it for the benefit of the community, not so that you can all feel good and powerful. I hope you guys all treat your kids a bit more like grown-ups.
I think I have made my views clear so I will sign off, pity the poor OP lost his answer for what was a reasonable request.

I would like to suggest something. Here we have a poor thread title, an abandoned thread (sort of), meaning if they really wanted the help they would keep a constant eye on it, and a bit of opinions on the handling of it. Why don't the forum have an area where they move such posts and that only the mods and op can access it. Once the infraction has been dealt with, the mods could restore it back with changes included. Just a suggestion...
I am glad this forum did not follow the ozgrid road. I would have to believe his forum is going to slowly decline and this one pick up, thus the need for fair but stern rules.
Hi George
I don't think we can set up such a Forum, it would not be possible to limit access to the OP & mods only.
The Infractions system is just a way to help us maintain the Forum and make it an easy and useful Excel resource. We do not want to get heavy handed
Hope that helps.
