"circunferential regresion"

Dear all, I need help with the following issue .
I have several (about 1000) points (x,y) that IŽd like to aproximate with a circunference.
The idea is to find the center (x0,y0) and the R for which the sum of the squares of the distances from the given points to the closest point of the circunference is minimum.

Is there any formula I could use?
If not, any idea about how to proceed?

Thanks!

Without actually seeing the data, it's hard to think of a ready built-in function that will do it. I expect Solver would tackle this problem pretty easily once you get the spreadsheet set up.
