i have an idea i think can work but need help on people that know how to do it

My name is mrk can any one help me with my idea. ( my observation)
I really don't know where to begin so I'll start from where I think the read can
Understand.

I had a friend that used execel to apply operation.
In my observation of things I'll try to explain it the best way I know how
here go's . What I told my friend can he apply operation based on my observation
of letter in a box and some how use process of Elemination. To prodict the next
groups of letters that will come out or shorten the probability of the letter.
here is the example u have option of picking 2 box's or 12 box's one's u have made u r selection
From the box's let say u made 2 box's selection with in these 2 box's there are
letters from A to Z he was able to shorten the selection of posable out come can any one help
and teach me how to do this using excel or how or where do I begin
