    Hello From Cold Country

I am a retired IBM'r. Been retired since 1992, so I have a lot of years under my belt. Being an IBM'r I used Lotus 123 for my worksheets after starting with Visicalc. Some 20 or so years ago I made a 123 Spreadsheet for my home budget. It is like a double entry bookkeeping system with balance sheet. It has some 20 expense accounts (envelopes if you will) to which I post to by using entry menus. I call it a pro-active budget as opposed to a reactive budget. So all the balances in the accounts equal my checkbook balance.
Now, Lotus was long ago abandoned and as such as new OS come out, there will be a day come that my Lotus program will no longer work. I was just lucky to be able to get it to work on W 8, and it will not work on W 7. (It did at first then an update came and it stopped)
I am using EXCEL 2013 and in the process of learning VBA to try to duplicate the 123 program I wrote long ago. Right now I am using a text book by Tom Urtis, 2nd Edition "Excel VBA 24-Hour Trainer" and will be searching this forum for ideas.
    Dave
