Cannot format usb disk drive because of i/o device error

I was trying to create a bootable win 8.1 USB disk by using rufus bootable usb maker. During the process, it gave error.
Now I can see my usb disk in my computer menu but its empty. I cannot format the usb, it gave me i/o error. Any solution about how to solve this problem?

Hi. What's the make of the USB stick? Did you try formatting it to FAT32 with the quick format off?

Have you tried inserting your USB disk to another computer? Either your computer has problems or your USB disk is corrupted. Usually, a quick format works whenever they don't work.
