Can't copy values from my STD Bank statement which have been copied and pasted

When I access my statement from the Standard Bank site, I copy and paste it into an Excel worksheet. I use =sum(cell number) but it show as a 0 value?

Hi Peter and welcome to the forum,

It is most likely the numbers from your bank site are considered TEXT to excel and not numbers. Try to add zero to those numbers to change them from text to real numbers and add them up again.

Hi, thanks so much for the quick response. I tried that with one of the numbers but it didn't help. I am also working with hundreds of numbers so that would be too laborious. The numbers are shown as: R 598,257.60-
Is it possible to attach a file to my message so that I can send an example?
