Is it possible to know if a file has been edited by excel

If have been assigned a task for which using excel will reduce the time in half. But I'm ordered not to use excel.
Is it possible for them to know if I have entered the data in excel ?

Files will show a date modified which is the last time the file had data entered and saved.

As it's a data entry, I'm intrigued to know what Excel will do better than SQL

if it is an access database and you imported an excel file into it, if you look at the settings you can see when it was imported but I'm not sure they'd know what was imported.

@SAMBO. What if I copy & paste the entire table from excel.. instead using IMPORT option in access ?
