Pie chart grouping classifications

I have products arranged by a SKU segmentation ie (A,B,C) and associated failures with that segment.

I am trying to create an appropriate chart that specifies the failure with that associated segment.

Currently I have the information in two columns labeled Total failures and Classification.

The problem: If I chart this each value is associated with A therefore I have a bunch of A's B's C's. Is there a way to group this information so that excel recognizes the fact that ALL A's are associated with the failure?

My only solution - use totals.

Would love another solution because this happens often but in different contexts.

Hello,

If you hold on just a little longer, you will be able to chart hierarchies with tree maps and sunburst charts in Excel 2016. The Excel 2016 Preview already has them.

If you want to aggregate and show totals, then summing and charting the totals is the way to go.
