Default options for how Excel charts appear in Word when pasted using Ctrl-V

    Hi all

Wondering if anyone out there knows the answer to this question - asked by a colleague of mine

"In Word 2013 the default pasting option for excel charts into Word is as a chart object which enables one to open the spreadsheet from the word doc and make changes etc.
The question is, was it different in the recent past - e.g. Office 2003 or Office 2007 in the respect that the default used to be to paste an image only?"

The background behind this is that they are worried that some documents may be going out with excel charts that link back to sensitive data as staff are assuming the charts are being pasted as images only

    Many thanks

    Dave

    Hi,

I checked 2010 last night - it's the same as 2013, as you'd expect. I don't know about 2007, but I would expect it to be same as 2010/13.
I've just checked 2003 now that I'm at work - charts are pasted as images from Excel 2003 into Word 2003, with no way to then access the background data (note that this assumes that the default 'copy in Excel, go to Word, paste' option is being used - it's obviously different if someone uses 'paste link' or similar.)
