Cuting and pasting lap times into excel

    Good morning Gents,

I am attempting to cut and paste from a published PDF file the lap times of our competitors. for example 1:39.438, this represents a time of one minute, thirty four seconds and just over four tenths of a second.

When I attempt to past this into a cell the number is automaticaly rounded up to 1:39.4 and in the formula excell is converting it into the time of day... Quit often our competotors are seperated by less than a 10th of a second so it is important that I show all the decimal places....

So how do I paste this into a cell without Excel interfairing???

Than you fior your time as always...

After you do your paste, apply the following custom format:

    [h]:mm:ss.000

The reason it looks like a time of day is that is how Excel stores date and time data. A stopwatch time of 1:39.438 is stored the same way as 12:01:39.438 AM. As long as you display it the way you want, you won't care about that.
