Alternative solution for pivot table value sort?

I have a pivot table that needs to be able to be sorted by any column selected. How do I sort by values? It keeps grouping the row names before sorting the values. So it will group by date, and then session for that date. I want the dates to be mixed and just give me top session value. If this isn't possible to do within a pivot table, can anyone recommend an alternative solution?

I figured out that if I create a unique ID column on the data source sheet, then add that as the first column in the pivot i can sort by any values.

My goal is to give people a table where they can sort any value regardless of what is in the first column. Seems like the only way I can do that is by copying the pivot and building a new table by pasting the values. Seems like such a backwards way to do things.

    Hi,

Covert your data "Range" on sheet3 to a data "Table".
Use the filter on "Sessions" and select "Sort Largest to Smallest".
This will give you the highest number in the Sessions column regardless of date and ID.
No need to use a Pivot Table.

Is this what you are after?

Yes it is. I ended up hiring someone to setup a VBA script that consolidates data using the pivot and then copy and pasting values into a normal table on a separate sheet for distribution. Normal tables are just more flexible for what we are doing.
    Thanks.
