Protected Sheet - One Cell Won't Lock

I have an excel sheet on Excel 2013 that I lock down in all but one cell. The idea being a person comes into the sheet, and can paste into into that one cell only and the sheet will auto populate.

The problem is there is ONE MORE cell that should be locking with the rest of the sheet but it will not lock. The result is that the entire sheet is locked but two cells. When someone pastes into the appropriate cell and hits enter, it jumps to the bottom of the sheet where the other unlocked cell is and this ends up getting overwritten on the next paste causing many problems.

Why cant I get that one cell to lock? What could I be missing? It's driving me crazy!!

    Please help,

    Les

It means you have not protected that cell which you are referring to. First of all unprotect your sheet > right click on the cell which you want to protect > go to format cells > go on Protect Tab > and make sure you have checked the box (Locked) > then again protect your sheet. Hope this resolves your problem

    Regards,
    Deepak

Re: Protected Sheet - One Cell Won't Lock

That was it. Does that mean it was unlocked at some point? I assume the default is to lock because I have not made that change on any other cell and they all locked as soon as I protected.

Is the default "locked" for a cell?

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, default property is always set to "locked. You might have changed while setting the another one. Please check again...!

    Good luck...!
