Re: help AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

We found a problem with one or more formula references in this worksheet.

Check that all the cell references, range names, defined names and links to other workbooks in your formulas are all correct.

    all data charts are erased

Re: help AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

(This thread should receive no further responses until this moderation request is fulfilled, as per Forum Rule 7)

Re: problem( with one or more formula references in worksheet)

Follow your link to superuser has a link back to here (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...names-etc.html ) which then has a link to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/m...a-d24309886a46

After all of that, it appears to me that there is not a single answer to this error message. The message means that somewhere in your workbook is an illegal formula reference.

You say that it started after inserting a chart or charts. Can you undo the adding of the charts? What happens if you delete those charts? What procedures did you use to insert those charts? You indicate that, accompanying this error, your charts went blank. Have you checked the references for those chart ranges for errors?

The common strategy that I see in those who resolved this error was to delete spreadsheet elements until the error went away. You might consider the same strategy.

You are welcome to upload your file here and someone may have a chance to look at it. Recognize that, if the error is in a reference to an external workbook, we may not be able to see an error in those references.

Many here do not like to go to outside file hosting services for sample files, preferring to download only form the forum directly. If you click on reply to thread or go advanced (or edit one of your previous posts), then click on the "manage attachments" link, you should be able to upload your file directly to the forum.

Your file opens just fine, I get no errors, and when I search for any formulas, I find nothing. I see nothing in the Name manager and no charts. I don't know where your error is coming from, and therefore, can suggest nothing for fixing it.

Re: problem( with one or more formula references in worksheet)

If the error does not show up in your uploaded file, than I don't know how we can tell you why you are getting the error. Your screenshot/pictures suggest that the error is showing up in a chart. Your uploaded sheet has a lot of tabs and picture objects and such, so perhaps I just overlooked it, but I did not find any charts in your uploaded sheet.

The usual scenario that I run into that creates this kind of error is when I execute a delete rows/columns/cells command (note the important distinction here between the delete and clear commands). If I delete the range being used by a chart data series, then I will get this kind of error.

    Solutions:
    1) If the delete command is still in the undo stack, undo until the problem is fixed.
    2) Go into the select source data for that chart and point the broken references to the correct references.

To prevent this error, I pay careful attention to what the delete command does, and make sure to use the clear command instead of the delete command when I anticipate that the delete command will lead to broken references like this.

If this error is being raised in response to a different scenario, describe what you are doing before the error is raised.
