conditional formating for data entry in a cell

    Hello,
I have problem finding a way to format a group of cells a color when a data is added to a cell in that range, then another color when data is added to another cell in that same range.

For instance. If a date is added in the column for "Date submitted" cell range turns green, then when a date is added in "Date ordered" Cell range turns Blue, Then when "Date filled" is entered into that column, the range turns Red? I tried to attach the file, don't know if it worked.

What should change color? The entire row?

Select the range that you want to change color (A2:H14 for the entire row), then click on conditional formatting --> New rule --> Use a formula. For Green, use the formula: =$E2<>"" and select a green fill. Click OK until you've completed that rule, then repeat the process with =$F2<>"" and blue, then =$G2<>"" and red. Order matters, so make sure your red rule is on top and the green rule is on the bottom. This should happen naturally if you enter the green rule first, then the blue, then the red.

If you want a different range shaded, then shift the "Applies to" range to match what you want colored. I've attached a sample that shades the right side of the table, from E2:H14, which looked cleaner (to me) than shading the whole row.
