    Excel opening distorted??

    Hi All,

This morning when I opened an excel file I have been working on for quite some time it was distorted (stretched to the right). Initially I thought it was something I had inadvertently done myself to the file so I reinstalled an older version of the file that I know was not distorted and the same problem was evident. I then opened some other files that I had not worked on for months and the the distortion was evident in these files also. The only thing I can think of is that windows 10 automatically made a large update when I turned my computer off last night and completed the install when I turned the computer on this morning. Does anyone know of some trouble shooting I can do to try and resolve this issue? I have tried the repair for office365 through the control panel however this has not worked. Is there some other setting that I may have inadvertently changed that may have caused this?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

    Re: Excel opening distorted??

Ok so I still have this problem.

After some trouble shooting I can refine what the problem is a little. My column widths have changed to a default of 8.38 instead of the normal 8.43. When I try and change them back by changing the default width it will not allow me to select 8.43. Further when I drag the column the next step up is 8.50. My workbooks open perfectly on my old computer where the column width is still the standard 8.43 and when I create a workbook on this computer and insert a 5x5 square when I open it on my new laptop (which was working perfectly until about 3 days ago) the square is now 5x5.64. The same happens with any shape or chart that I insert on the ws.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is anyone having the same problems? I had just received an auto windows 10 update which is the only change I can think may have caused it. While troubleshooting this issue I have reset my PC and also uninstalled office365 and re-installed it however the problem persists. I have had an internet chat with Microsoft support who took remote control of my computer on two occasions and no success.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Marcus

    Problem solved on another thread.

There is some sort of bug that only affects Calabri 11 font on a certain install of windows, it is explained here:

if anyone has the same super frustrating issue!

I disabled Microsoft ClearType and the problem went away.
