    Drop down box to populate golf teams

    Each week I make a group scorecard to record scores for that day in our league of 6 teams, 24 players. For Week 1 (the actual teams are shown in column X) I must type in the player's name and his score under the four openings for his team. For example, when I enter cell A3 to begin entering Bent's name I would like to start with typing a "B" and instantly have the list from column B of the Data sheet become visible as a drop down list...then I could click on Bent and have A3 populated with his name.

    You would normally use a Data Validation drop-down to choose a name from a list, but that does not have an Auto Complete feature. Check out Debra Dalgleish's website here:

    http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal10.html

    where she shows how you can use a Combo box to set up this feature.

    Hope this helps.

    @Jear_16,

    If you read the Forum Rules at the top of the screen, you will see (Rule 02) that you should not attempt to hijack someone else's thread - rather, you should start your own thread with a link back to this one if you think it is relevant.
