Formula to retrieve data from most recently dated file

    Hello,

I need a formula to pull data from a cell in one worksheet (for example saved as "Data_File 12-1-16.xlsx") into a cell in another workbook.
The tricky part is the fact that I need to get the data from the most recently updated file- because we save a new copy with the day's date on a regular basis.
Sometimes we don't save every day, so there could be gaps in the sequence (skipped days or weekends).

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Assuming your files are all named in the format youve shown above then the following UDF will return the filename of the latest file.
