Conditional formatting: make italics if formula in cell?

I have a big list with 100 rows and 8 columns. In each of These 800 cells there is a value, either a direct Input (e.g. 23) or a formula to generate the value (formula would then be referring to at least one of these 800 cells).
In order to have a quick visual as to which cells are "overwritten" with direct Inputs and which have a formula behind them (so as to not so easily / accidently replace a formula with a value), I wish to Show all cells which contain a formula via italics text. Is this possible via conditional formatting?
It should be continuously / automatically recognised, e.g. not with a macro that I'd Need to run in order for all 800 cells to get checked and updated...

You may want to use conditional formatting on the Home Tab. Use the highlight cell rules and play around with the formatting of your liking. Good luck and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask and someone should be able to help you.

so that's what i do before posting on this Forum...
I tried "Format cells which contain..." and then "specific text" .... "beginning with" "="
however this doesn't seem to work (likely because it's not text, rather a formula?)

    anyone else got a tip?

Perhaps an attachment of the workbook would help. Without any personal information of course. Thanks.

    OK

    Step2 - Apply the formatting

Select the cell(s) you want to format.

Home > Conditional Formatting > Manage Rules > New Rule
Select "Use a formula to determine which cells to format"
Enter this formula in the text box "Format values where this formula is true:
    =IsFormula
    Click the Format button
    Select the desired style(s)
    OK

This Looks like it should help, however I'm on a german Computer so it won't work, presumably because "GET.CELL" and "IsFormula" is english terminology and as such, won't be recognised by my Excel...?

Perhaps someone can send me / Upload an .xls File with this formatting already in it, applied to columns D to K, and I can then Transfer my data across? Should work then.

    @kleiny

Re the Reported post you've made.

Unless there's reason to think otherwise if someone suggests uploading a workbook the default position must be that either the request isn't clear or that it's required in order to check out a potential solution.

People often forget that whilst they are obviously completely familiar with their workbook and what they see as a problem, to everyone else it starts out as an unknown and sometimes it is necessary to see the workbook in question. Why else would someone ask if they didn't need it?

    Hi,

Did you try Tony's suggestion? Once more the old pre VBA Excel 4 macros prove superior. That's the second time in a week that Excel 4 has been utilised in a solution.
