Error Bar Cap Width

Is there any way at all to change the length of the caps of the error bars? I'm trying to make a graph that is a bit large, and while I can scale everything else (text, line thicknesses), the top and bottom caps of the error bars almost disapear in comparison, and I would like to make them wider.

You can not alter the cap separately from the line. So thickness is the only control.

In xl2007 and newer you can alter the line end/start style but this is an arrow/circle/diamond rather than a perpendicular line.

If you have to make custom error bar widths, you may want to graph XY scatter lines to mimic a Error Bar. But perhaps your columns are too wide and thus the error bars are not showing so well.
