    Welcome to the forum.

Can you give the exact formula where #NAME? is being returned?
    Hope that helps,

    Colin

As a guess I would say you are probably missing the quotes from the 3rd argument, e.g. this will return #NAME?

    =DATEDIF(A1,B1,m)

    it should be

    =DATEDIF(A1,B1,"m")

    Re: missing datedif

DATEDIF() is a Microsoft unsupported function available in most versions of Excel.

It might be that it has been dropped from 2010, hence you will get #NAME? Just a thought I don't know for sure.

    Re: missing datedif

the way I am using the function is =datedif(e4,e5,D). e4 is 17/2/12 and e5 is 30/3/12.

I know datedif is unsupported and may have been dropped but why would it work on one computer and not the other?

    Re: missing datedif

Okay, so the D at the end is the problem. It should be in quotes.

    =DATEDIF(E4,E5,"D")

Or, you could just use this instead:

    =E5-E4

and format the cell as a number.

Different versions of Excel on these computers?

More likely it's as DLL said you don't have D in parenthisis i.e. "d"

    Re: missing datedif

Colin Thanks for the help, when I changed the formula to =datedif(e5,e4,"D") it worked on both computers.

Still not sure why it worked without the "" on one computer and not the other.

    Marcol
Same version of windows (windows 7 professional 32 bit with office 32 bit) on both computers.

    Re: missing datedif

    Hi,

The only way I can think that it would work without the quotes is if the workbook contained a defined name, D, which was defined as ="D".

Glad you got it fixed now.
