Smile Window XP runs slow and not working properly

    Hello Everyone,

I have a problem with my desktop after I set up window XP professional service pack 3. I found that I can't run task manager (Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator). I also cannot run RegEdit. What is more frustrated, my computer is supper slow and I cannot do anything. Microsoft Outlook configuration always happens at start up and if I press cancel, there are are hundreds of error messages appear that force me to press button shut down.

    Anyone has any ideas?

    Kind Regards,
    Sarin

Yes, you most likely have one or more viruses, trojans or malware. If not, then your Windows installation was corrupted when you installed SP3. If you can't roll back the update (should be able to in Add/Remove Programs), then you may need to re-install Windows and apply all MS patches again.

    Thanks you for your reply.

Can it be caused by the drivers installed after window installation?

I download VGA, Audio, and Ethernet drivers from the internet and set up on my desktop.

    Kind regards,
    Sarin

It *could* be, but there's really no way for us to tell. I'd suggest rolling back any changes you have made (hopefully you created a System Restore Point prior to installing any of these). You can then install the changes one-by-one and see which, if any, causes problems.
