Macro to change page numbers in footer

I have a 400 page document with many sections. When I add page numbers, they reset after each section. I have to manually go through each section and select to continue page numbers from previous section. Is there a way to automate this using a macro or any other method so I can have the pages numbered 1-400 throughout the entire document?
    Thanks

    hi ezzy,

If you had the headers or footers in which the page # fields are located configured with the 'link to previous' attribute, there'd be no need to manually update them.
