Exclamation Cannot open the imported table in Access

I have imported a number of worksheets from a Excel workbook in .xlsx format and made them linked to this workbook. When the workbook is opened, it allows me to update the imported tables and open them. However, when I close the workbook, I cannot open the tables again and a message "External table is not in expected format" comes to to screen.

I want to work on those imported tables without openning the sourced workbook. How can I do that? Please help.

Re: Cannot open the imported table in Access

    Hi Tywlam,

I just opened Access and tried to link to an Excel worksheet. In the dialog named "Select the Source and destination of the data" it says you can NOT change the data in the Excel linked table from within Access.

I think that is what you want but it doesn't do what you are asking for.

Perhaps you should import the Excel table and export it again.???
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
