    Remove multiple hard returns

    I have a document copied from the internet and between paragraphs has varying number of hard returns (Ctrl + Enter).

    Sometimes there are three and other time about six.

    How can I remove these hard returns but retain the number formatting?

    I tried this as a wildcard but it does not work on the hard returns.

    Find = ^13{1,}
    Replace = ^p

    Regards, Jeff

    I can only assume that the code you are using is the wrong code. There are quite a few different paragraph codes. Just try the other ones. I have no idea what you are talking about when you refer to "number formatting" as there is no other reference to this in your post

    Hi Jeff,

    Are you sure they're hard returns and not soft returns? A wildcard Find/Replace as you've spec'd will remove all duplicate hard returns.

    Here's a macro that'll clean up pasted text from internet sites, emails, PDFs, etc. It assumes two or more paragraph/line breaks per 'real' paragraph and only one (at most) per intra-paragraph line.

    Thanks Paul. I see now, you are right of course, they are soft returns (the down arrow that curves to the left).

    Works great...Thanks again
