    Question Data Validation Help

    Hi there,

I'm creating a shopping list spread sheet which is for my OCR Nationals GCSE. My spread sheet is based on a scenario given, and needs to contain basic functions to allow me to pass my exam. A criteria is to use drop down lists, and I wish to create these lists on the sheet where the user enters their shop, and wish the list to be sourced from another sheet with all items available from. I am able to do this at school on their computers, which uses MS 2010, Win 7. My laptop MS 2007, Win 7 will not let me do this however. When selecting source for the list, i am not able to leave the current sheet i'm working on. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Is it a problem with my computer or something?

Any help would be very appreciated!

    Re: Data Validation Help

    Hello Matt
There's nothing wrong with your computer. The Data Validation dialogue box will not let you select cells from another sheet. You can however type in the address of the range of cells containing your list. For example: =Sheet2!A2:A5. Alternatively you could create a named range for your reference list and use that. For example: =ShopList.

    Hope this helps
