How to sort Pivot table by period date (e.g month)

    Hi,

    I have a table with 3 column:

    Material // DATE // VALUE

I want a pivot table that can show for each material, the amount of value of each date.

Just by selecting to creat the pivot table I can get this kind of option, but when I try to filter or sort the column Date I can never find the option that I want, to show these values in groups by date.

I found a filter to show just one month or just one quarter... But I wanted to show every date, but insted of 01.01.2001 and 01.02.2001 to be jan.2001.

The file to explain the question:Book2.xlsx

I added an new colum with the value month.

After that it's easy to make the pivot table you want.

    See the attached file.

    another error, which one?

I don't see any error on your file.

Please also refer (in your text) to the sheet you made the pivot table from.

My Pivot table is the sheet named 'BUDGET' and the data is from the sheet 'Ledger'.

I was trying to use the steps Kevin UK recommended. The error that appears is that I cant use Group option

    Hi keredu

I had no problem. Right click one of the dates, click group and the grouping box will appear. See the attached file and picture.

Re: How to sort Pivot table by period date (e.g month)

    Hi kevin,

I always have trouble when I input a lot of data, I think its because of the format of the cells that have to be all the same (date type eg. dd-mm-yyyy).

I'll change this thread to solved, but I'll probabily will need more help about the same topic soon. =/

    thanks again for helping
