Automatically update links when server names change

    Hi there,

is there a way to automatically update any links within a workbook without
having to go in and manually do this to every link.

we will be changing a server name very soon and a lot of links to files on
this server will there after not work, but i'd like to see if i can fix as
many links as possible with this name change, without causing each person any
    problems.

any tools that can do this (asside from Link fixer plus) would be helpful too.

    Many thanks for your help

I have done this befoe a few years ago but I haven't got the code on me.

If I remember correctly you can't change the links with code from within the spreadsheets you have to do it from another workbook. This I guess is an advantage in your case as you could create some code to find and open all spreadsheets and check for links.

Open the workbook you want to change (without running any of the auto routines) then you can change the links. I think you can do this using the Excel collections (ie I don't think you need APIs).

We needed to do it to reasses (and reset) the links based on whether the user was a developer, tester or end user.

Sorry for the lack of detail. If you dont get a more complete reply I will look it when next I am home.

    Hope it helps, regards
