Problem with clicking on cells

I have a problem with Excel.
When I single-click on a cell, it won't release it, and if I move my mouse the other cells get underlined, and I have to close Excel and reopen it.
That's always happening.
What can I do?

Next time that happens hit the F8 key and see what happens!
