    Doing a attendence roster. want to use x instead of a number. Don't know the
    formula. could use some help

    If x has been entered into cells in a column and you want to count the number
    of x's then try: =COUNTIF(A1:A7,"x")

    Chopper-One, how about something like this,

    =COUNTIF(A1:A10,"x")
