Build a search tool in excel

[Obi-Wan Kenobi]

Is there any way I can build a search tool in excel so that I can retrieve data from another sheet. i.e. the search tool is built in sheet1 and it can filter and retrieve data from sheet2.


Also is there a way of setting excel so that regardless of what sheet I may save the document it ALWAYS opens on sheet1.

Please advice.

You can do this with Advanced Filters and programming. There are some
sample workbooks here:

Under Filters, look for 'Product List by Category' and 'Filter Rows for
Text String'
