    Working with worksheets in excel

I am trying to work with my worksheets in an excel book. Generally you click
on a worksheet and you can switch without a problem. When I click on a
worksheet, I get a pointer that looks like it has a piece of paper attached,
like it wants to copy the worksheet. When I get this I cannot do anything in
    excel. Can anyone please help.......

The pointer you describe is the 'rearrange sheets' pointer, to re-locate a sheet in the order of sheets.

Don't hold a click for too long on a worksheet tab, or check that your mouse is not faulty.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will try this the next time I have a problem.
