    Add-in for crossconnects on drawings?

    Hi everyone.

Is it possible to improve the drawing facility in Excel with an Add-In to make it so that crossconnects are possible?

So for example, if you draw a line, and then a draw another line that crosses the first line, it automatically shows a crossconnect, or a break, or something to indicate that the lines are not actually intended to be joined?

This is the kind of thing that Visio makes possible, but it would be nice if it could be done in Excel as well.

    Thanks for reading!

You can "fake" it by using a small object, such as a circle placed at the
intersection and arrange the ORDER so the circle is in front of one line but
behind the other and use "no line" on the circle.....

    Thanks for your reply.

I know you can fake it, but that would make things even more complicated if I need to move things around!

What I'm after is something that will automatically crossconnect, so that if I move one of the lines, the crossconnect goes with it.

I'm guessing this is simply not possible in Excel; that's what real drawing programs like Visio are for. It would just be nice to have some of that functionality in Excel too.

Well, untill something comes along, you can create an "Intersection" and
"group" the three components and then just use it like any other drawing
object.........moving it around at will.......the three grouped objects will
    stay together............

Re: Add-in for crossconnects on drawings?

You're welcome, happy to help.........as you say, Excel is not really a
"drawing tool" as such....but with a few tricks, one can produce some really
amazing results, and the conditional formatting can make things REALLY
interesting. Oh yeah, besides the "broken intersection" another neat
thing to make is the one where one line "jumps over" the other, with a
    little
arc. Come back again, we don't often get the opportunity to discuss the
    drawing-characteristics of Excel here.

The idea of "grouping" objects so they stay together is not something that's ever occurred to me; thanks for suggesting it. I'll definitely give that a try.
