protection in excel 2003

hai

i have created a dropdown list in a cell and locked that cell and protected the excell 2000 sheet, but still iam able to select an item from the dropdown list.

but iam unable to do the same in excell 2003. i.e. when i try to select an item from the dropdown list it is not allowing me to do so in excel 2003.

is there any posibility to do the same in excel 2003. if yes please help me.
