How to sort the data entered in different columns (columnwise)

we can sort the data entered in different rows, can we sort the data entered
in different columns ie column wise sorting.

Click Data... Sort...Options
Sort Left to Right

The solution above works, unfortunately when i tried it, it sorts only one row at a time.
