    Formulas not calculating

This is a problem that has occurred on and off for me and I am not sure why.

Sometimes when I enter a formula into a cell, the formula shows up as the text instead of the anticipated answer.

For example, if I have 9 in cell A1 and I type =A1+10 into cell B1, B1 will show =A1+10 as the answer instead of 19.

Any ideas why it sometimes works this way?

    Thanks.

    Re: Formulas not calculating

In these cases, your cell was formatted as text before you entered the formula. Formatting afterwards doesn't help.
Format the cell as general or Number and RE-ENTER the formula (F2, ENTER)
