    Cells don't update!!

I have two sheets which contain linked cells. In sheet 2, one cell is: "='HL3 (500)'!B39" which means that it has to look at sheet named HL3(500) which is previous to it. However, the cell does not automatically update when i change the first sheet. In fact, only when i click into the cell to edit it, does the updated value appear.

Why!? I can't keep clicking each cell to update it.

Perhaps your sheet is set to Manual Calculation. Tools > Options >
    Calculation > Automatic.

Thank you, but its NOT on manual calculation. There must be another solution.

    Let me rephrase:
blank cells that should contain values do not, and the values only appear once i click into the cells as i would when i edit a cell. then, upon pressing enter, the value appears!

    Sometimes this works.

    Select a single cell.
    edit|replace
    what: = (equal sign)
    with: =
    replace all

It's like reentering each formula--but easier.

    Re: Cells don't update!!

    Hi there,

I'm also having the same issue within a rather large Excel workbook, however I'm relying on the formulas dynamically calculating without user input. Without them being able to automatically calcuate, my workbook is essentially wrong. Is anyone aware of a method to force an automatic calculation? VBA? Macros? Something?

    Thanks for your help!
