Canned replies availbility when editing a post

I just now have answered a question and then immediately realized that I should have use the "canned reply" for a bad title. It wasn't available to me while I was "stuck" in editing my answer. I wish that I could have deleted the post right then and there and replaced it with the Canned reply. Both were impossible. I ended up doing the worst possible combination. I answered the question and said it was against the rules......DUMB!!!!

I think that the Canned Replies should be available when editing your answer. This would have save protonLeah from having to post the response that I was trying to add to my reply.

The canned replies are available to forum gurus and upwards.

But you can surely maintain a notepad of the canned replies you would like to use and which other gurus and mods are using.

That is a good idea. I think that I will use Notepad and copy some of the Canned replies that I have access to then I can just copy and paste as necessary.

    Thank you.

I just happen to be see this....

I'm only an expert and I have access to canned replies....

funny, that Alru suggested the notepad technique, that's what I have been doing for a while....I even added my own "canned" replies from my notepad file....

anyway....not sure about the whole Expert Vs. Guru part....

Aha... Some clarification here. I recently staggered through to Expert level and the Canned replies appeared and worked. A day or two later and they're still visible, but don't add to posts. It may be that they've been there for ever and I just didn't notice them before... Sometimes I'm staggered at my own lack of observation (and stupidity).

Are they available to Experts and (if so) any suggestions as to why they don't work?

Canned replies are available to Forum Experts. Sometimes when the system is slow, the canned replies somehow don't work properly. You will find that they are not available when you edit a reply.

If you are using Internet Explorer like I am, and are having problems, try running in "Compatibility" mode.
