Hello.
When I try to type in the following title for a thread the thread won't submit or preview. Any idea why?

Hi Testiereg,
Welcome to the Forum
There are a few things like reported in the posts listed below that cause a sucuri firewall thing to spring in when you have certain characters in a post.
I have also heard of things in the title bar that cause some problem before. I think that is a different problem. I could not find the threads yet talking about that. I do remember that a forum Moderator, alansidman, knew something about it, but I have not found the threads yet were he solved it.
In any case, the usual thing is just to take bits out until you suss out the offending bits.
Like for
Create filenames from the values in a MS Excel spreadsheet
It seems to be the following like which all give problems
Create filenames from t
Or
Create filenames from Poo
Or
Create FiLeNames from 4
Or
Create FiLeNames from something quite disgusting I just thought about
Or
CreaTe filenames fRom wee wee and that is nothing like as disgusting as what I was just thinking about
So I am guessing that
Create filenames from x __ where x can be just about anything, is probably some command restricted to certain people to do something.
So if you just change the title to something like_..
Creating filenames from the values in a MS Excel spreadsheet
_..then you will be all right. But I see you have already posted with a slightly different title anyway_....
_.....In a few places ...

By the way, - You should not really Duplicate posts, ( that means post in different Sub Forums at the same Forum),
and if you cross post (that means posting in different Forums ) then you should please copy the URL to the post in the other Forum from the URL bar and paste that in the post in this Forum stating that you are cross posting. That way volunteers can cross check to see if you have an answer that they were thinking about to avoid us wasting time. Thanks
Alan
P.s. Please check out the Rules before posting, Thanks

P.P.s Please mark the Thread as solved iif you are happy with the answer. ( You might want to wait a bit in case someone with a better idea than me ( and there are many such people ) come along with a better answer )

Create filenames from the values in a MS Excel spreadsheet
But I shortened/changed it a bit and it was OK
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Hi,
I imagine that it is because the firewall is blocking CREATE as a potentially dangerous SQL statement- it's used for creating tables/databases. It appears not to be a well-tuned firewall.
Don
Please remember to mark your thread 'Solved' when appropriate.
Hi Don
It did not seem to mind that on its own, just the complete strings I tried / showed
Al
EDIT: I thought this was a different problem to the Firewall thing. I seem to remember a Mod saying there are some commands that certain people have the privalege to put in the title bar, but I could not find the previous thread on it yet

Indeed- it is perhaps the pattern combination of 'SQL-KEYWORD any-word FROM' that triggers it.
Tangentially, as the banner has disappeared, has there been any information on the success, or otherwise, of the database upgrade yesterday? So far this morning, all appears exactly as before- in other words, the usual timeouts, duplicate posts and database errors.
Tested
Create anything From something
Your right! it errored. Another one to add to the known naughty words.... like some others that I am thinking about just now which are very naughty apparantly
I seems like Business as Usual by me at ExcelForum also, lots of spinners database wonks and the such

I'm having trouble too!
But mine says I have html content? Any way I can remedy this?
Ah! Fixed it. Thanks for the threads you attached. Having a space before and after < or > fixed it.
Thanks so much!
