Problem with Avatar

So on a couple of different occasions, the most recently being two days ago I tried to add an Avatar picture to my profile.

I choose to use a file from my computer I find the file and I hit save or upload whatever it is and all I get is some text that looks like a hyperlink saying Skywriter's Avatar.

I thought maybe the moderators had to approve it, so I waited a couple of days, but it's still there.

I know there's a size limit and the file I chose is probably half that number, but it's still a no go.

This time I tried a jpeg, on my last attempts I think I tried bitmap, tiff, jpeg, but back then I didn't wait any period of time to see if it was a moderator approval issue, so if my problem is I picked a jpeg please let me know.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bruce, there is nothing we have to/need to approve for this. It's been ages since I updated my so I cant remember what I had to do. But it does say that the pic needs to be...

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 160 by 160 pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

If it it exceeds those specs, then it wont show

Okay let me look at it again. I'm not a pixel expert, but the way you stated it struck a chord, maybe one of the numbers was greater than 160. I know the total file size was less. I'll check it again.

Wow I found one that's 96 X 96, but when I go to upload it my screen says the max is 50 X 50, but I tried it anyway and it didn't work.

Maybe the longer you are around the more pixels you get?
I just found where I can put a picture with my signature.
The limit on that picture is 500 X 100.
I don't remember that being there when I signed up for this board. I also know the amount of text I was allowed to put in my original signature was ridiculously low. Now I see no limit, so I added some more text.

OK yes, that is probably a "seniority" thing, sorry, didnt think about that. I will see if we can get that info posted in the rules thread
