    Thanks for all the help

I just wanted to thank everyone on the forum, and for the existence of the forum. Over the last couple of months you have helped me write macros (and taught me VBA coding along the way). The macros are saving me a great deal of time as I am analyzing 100 sets of data, each with 3 input files.

Before using macros this work was taking me many hours to manually read-in the data, summarize the 100 sets and copy into Powerpoint. This is all done via macros now and takes just a couple of minutes.

    Again thanks to all involved.

    Good post.
Likewise, I have received help beyond expectation.

The two things that strike me most are the amount of time some are willing to donate to help others and the lack of ethics I see from many receiving that help when it comes to thanking them.

Hey I was planning on writing a thanks note late this week, but after seeing this thread I think I shall just add it here.

Like the others I really want to say thanks to everyone from this forum who has helped me over the last 6 months. As of August last year I had no idea on how to use VBA, and was given the task of writing two analysis programs for the company, I could not have done it without the help I recieved.

I am now moving departments so am not sure my new boss will let me play around with coding but I definately want to keep up the skills I learnt so I may still be on here asking for help occasionally.

    Thanks again.

I likewise really apprecate everyones help! Being a CPA it takes a lot longer for me to learn VBA because I don't get to use it often enough to remember what I learn sometimes. However, I am working on that!

So please be patient as I make mistakes posting. It's certainly not intentional & I will take care of any problems brought to my attention.

    Thanks a million, mikeburg

    Thumbs up Thank you!

I taught myself VBA and have two tomes that help me a lot in answering my own questions. If I can't figure out a problem myself and my books don't help (or I don't have them with me), I check the MVP websites. If those don't give me the info I need then I come here and most of the time I get a quick response.

I'd like to thank those more talented than I in lending their assistence in the VBA realm.

I'd also like to say that it gives me a great buzz to be able to reply to another poster and give help where I can.

I wish to joint to the ones expressing their grattitude towards the existence of this forum, more than that, expressing the grattitude towards the fantastic PEOPLE who make all that differencce and provide not only VBA support, but to a certain extent... they do contribute to other peoples' development interpersonally too. My take-away beyond some VBA-basics is to try to help others, wherever I can.

    My Thanks Too

I can only echo the many posts above this one.
I've found this forum invaluable over the last couple of years now and have learnt so much from my humble noobie beginnings.
It only works because of the fantastic attitude of the peopel who use it and moreover to those who spend the time to help others with their queries.

Long may it continue and my thanks again.

    My Thanks as Well!

While I do try to give a personal "Thank You" whenever I have a question answered or receive actual coding that resolves my issue, we can never say Thank You enough to all of the MVPs who volunteer their time and knowledge to help others.
    Thanks!

    Ditto...

I can only express my thanks - just like everyone else.

You guys (& those on other forums) have saved myself (and my colleagues) a vast amount of time by helping me to automate some of the more time-consuming tasks - as well as teaching me a little along the way...

    You are our heroes

    Thanks.

    Can't thank you enough.

I've only been on here a short time, and the help I've gotten from folks on this site is amazing. I'm just doing silly stuff, and trying to automate a few things. But the help that you have all given me has been amazing. These are really mundane tasks and your assistance in helping me automate them has been nothing short of awesome. As I learn VBA, I hope to ask less of everyone and be more of a help myself. Until then, Thanks again.

Allow me to ditto the sentiments above. I've gotten quite a bit of help; some through actual posts of my own and others from the responses given to other people (who happen to have the same question as I).

    Again, thanks.

If you have replied to any of my threads. THANKS

i wont name names, as i cannot remeber them all and it would be unfair to thank only the ones i can remember. Just a big general THANKS to everyone who has helped me on here. i cannot grasp VBA, but there are lots of you who are very happy to share your knowledge and get me out of problems in my spreadsheets. i have learnt a lot from you guys.

i have posted in the past on another very strict excel forum, obeyed the (many) rules, only to get carcastic put downs from the formum administrator as he felt my question was obviously not worthy of his 'intelligence'. On here you do not seem to care about the level or intelligence of the poster, only about helping them out if you can and for that i give a big THANKYOU.

Some of you may remeber writing code for me, if you do please give yourselves an extra pat on the back. Keep up the great forum!!

I too am greatly indebted to the people who help me with all of my crazy requests for macros. Since I started coming here I have reduced the file size of my most frequently used spreadsheet from 30Mb down to 700k. I also finally understand how to record macros within excel and I do that almost every day and it saves me hours. Someday, I hope I can save enough money to take a course.

I remember a couple years ago I thought I knew a lot about Excel. That was before I had ever heard of VBA. Its funny, the more I learn, the more I realize how little I really know.

    Thank you

I too would like to give thanks,

I have had a few situations, some in depth, some trivial, and some just ended up being typing errors (that I did not notice).

No matter what the issue was everyone who helped was courteous and that makes me feel welcomed here.

Thanks for all the time that was put into helping me make my life a little easier.

    Thank you to all

To all the 'helpers' out there.

I've only been using this site for a couple of months, but I would like to add my thanks to the growing list in this thread. If you can't find help (or guidance) in some of the other threads/posts in this forum you're sure to find it in the reply to your own post - offered unstintingly by those out there around the world.

Like everyone else who has received aid and assistance I can only offer my gratitude for a job well done.

    Keep up the good work.

    Many thanks and kind regards.

    Thanks to Rylo

I saw this thread and wanted to give Rylo a big thanks. As I read through the this thread I saw your name several times. Your obviously part of what makes this website such a great resource. I appreciate the time you took to help with my macro needs. It stopped the complaining I was receiving about the workbook locking up everytime a change was made.

    Thanks again,

    Thanks to all

I know that sometimes people get frustrated with the same type of questions and asking for the same type help often. With that being said, let me state that is with great appreciation and admiration I feel when I receive the assistance from this forum. Not all of us learn as fast as other or sometimes ever get the complexity of the codes, formulas, and little tips or tricks. So once again with all the rest of the forum users let me say thanks.

This forum is by far the most informative, useful and helpful forum that i have every joined! A BIG thankyou to everyone for their contributions no matter how large or small! It is nice to recieve useful replies to posts that are mostly tailored to your needs, without any derogatory comments!

Before joining this forum i joined another Excel forum (don't think i can mention it's name) where it's rules were so strict, they overshadowed the reason that you were on the site in the first place. Don't get me wrong, rules are important(!) but i think when posting a question it is more useful to recieve an informative answer to your question (and any input to make your title more decisive), than 3 posts from moderators telling you exactly which rules you have broken! In the end i gave up on the forum without even being able to find out how to make a 'new post' - A result of all the overpowering flashing 'RULES' signs.

All i can say is that this forum is EXCELLENT - Everyone keep up the good work!

    Thanks Again

    Thanks for the help

Just wanted to say, "Thank you." to rylo, royUK, and tekman for their help today. Your comments and suggestions helped me narrow down the problem.

With your help, I was able to take a very cumbersome set of tools, and turn it into a very efficient iteration.

    Thanks again.

I love this site. Without question, this is probably the single most helpful website I have ever had the pleasure of using. (As helpful as all of you are, I'm VERY surprised there aren't more posts here.)

    Thanks to all.

    Big thanks to DominicB today.

When you don't know where to start on a problem you can always rely on the people in these forums to either set you in the right direction or more often that not solve the problem completely for you!

Thanks to all contributors to this forum ...I only wish I knew more to help others out too.

Keep up the good work !

i agree with all this. and i have received help and more importantly learned more than any class could have taught me.

i also see people on here who ask a questions, someone responds with hey check out this site, read it attempt the code and well work on adjusting it from there. then the person asking the question replies with could you actually write some code that i could just copy and paste in.

    unbelievable.

edit: VBANoob should be making 6figs for his abilities. ty alot VBANoob.

    Hi,

I agree with every one who posted on this thread. This forum site is the best. I have tried going in different forums but its only here that I was able to receive immediate response. Moreso, the excel god's here are not that too stingy when it comes to writting codes. Some would even stay with you until you were able to accomplish what you are trying to do. Also some would do the extra mile of fixing your entire coding. Kudos to all moderators!

Special thanks to the following: Rylo, Leith Ross, Richard Buttrey, royuk, dominicb, andypope and VBA Noob. You guys rock this site. I can't thank you enough for helping me accomplish my first project. God bless you on all what you do.

    Thanks,

    Stoey

Cool Where would we be without your help

I would like to add my thanks to all those who give so freely of their time to help us novices out.
I am new to coding and really enjoy trying to make something work but know I would never get there without the help of you guys.
In particular the regular moderators, VBA Noob, Shg, RoyUK, Andy Pope, Dominicb, Leith Ross, Daddylonglegs ETC......
Not intending to miss anybody out, I'm sure the "Regular" responders will vary according to time zones.
As A newbie I'm learning a lot as I go along and look forward to the time I'm able to help out others the same way.

For those today and in the past that have provided me help, I would like to send out a thousand "Thanks". I have learned a great deal through this site and would still be using the old long method of work had it not been for this forum. You guys are great and deserve a pat on the back.... Many Many Thanks.....

I use this site alot when I am working on a project. I have found alot of threads to be very benificial for my needs. This has made it possible to not have to post my own however the ones that I couldn't find, the responses were quick and very helpful. I refer all my co-workers to this site if I can't figure out the problem.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the talented programmers in the forum. I knew NOTHING of VBA a few months ago, and now am writing some basic macros and steadily increasing my knowledge. You all helped me through some difficult situations and had a lot of patience. This is a great forum to get help from!

I registered today - and the reason I registered is the help I have already received indirectly - from reading solutions to other peoples problems!
Over the last few weeks this has helped me immensely.

Yes, thank you very much. Between the moderators and forum members this is a great place to not only find answers to VBA and excel brainbusters, but to enjoy the challenges of unlocking all excel can do with other like-minded users.

Just gonna jump thins bandwagon. If your like me ie not really logical and stumbling your way through VBA (and contantly getting a bruised forehead from banging on brick walls), well, this site is a godsend. All the moderators are stars and as a chef, if any of you wants a three course meal for nowt i'd certainly cook up a storm, as you do with my messy code.

    Many, many thanks

Me too. I started off knowing very little indeed about VBA, and you have been really helpful when I've got stuck. Have learnt a great deal over the last month or so. Many thanks,

I will add my name to the list of folks who have said Thank You.

I could not be where I am today, with the vba knowledge I have, had it not been for several of the folks on this forum and others like it.

You simply cannot learn a lot of what you learn off these forums...from books and/or classes. I have a boat-load of books, and have taken several classes...and I have learned more from these forums for sure.

So...thank you, thank you, thank you...

Better to be burried at the end of a long list than completely unheard...

I also want to thank those who administer and contribute to this site. Like so many others, I was sort of put into a position in my office to become "the excel guy" - the tolerance you all have for us noob's and the expertise you have in solving problems is simply incredible.

Because of this, I've thoroughly enjoyed learning bits and pieces of coding, have embraced my new role at work, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, actually ENJOY coming into the office every day. It's like putting together a big puzzle, then getting to see people all over the world using it! Fun stuff.

    Thanks again!

I have to say that this is a great site! The Mods do their best to help in any and every way possible, while policing the site for rule breakers like myself (well, the old me). There are others around who help in answering questions which sometime speeds the process up. I want to thank all who have took the time to answer my noob questions that some may have passed up. Sometimes I don't have the time to try to think out VB code on my own and this is a great place to search or ask others for help!
    Thanks again!

Re: Thanks for all the help

Introduction: I am that guy who is pestering all these excel pros pretty much daily with some strange requests for help.

I think it really is about time to say a very big thank you to all contributors of this forum. I just started out with VBA about 2 weeks ago and now finally, with the help and patience of many users here, to write my first real BIG macro. Work is getting easier using all these macros for several time consuming tasks, and pretty much all of them came or were inspired from members of this forum.

I thank everyone for contributing their time and knowledge to this place and who knows, if I stick around long enough, I might be able to answer some questions myself one day

    Keep it up!

I would like to say THANKS! to EVERYONE who contributes to this forum, whether or not they have directly or indirectly helped me. After all, without the many contributors to this site, no-one's queries would be answered.

I've used many forums before but this has to be one of the best, if not, THE best, most concise, practical, accessible and, most importantly, helpful, resource for Excel VBA coding.

I would still be under my desk chewing on carpet tiles for stress relief if it wasn't for this!

Great post. The help I've had here has been astounding. I've been able to make some very strong contributions to the way my company does business, and it is in large part due to the helpful community here, I couldn't have done without it!

I often try to scan topics without replies to wager my own helpfulness, but usually the topics in my skill range are solved quicker than I can manage a response!

I'd like to thank everyone and wish you all a merry christmas and an even more excellful new year!

I just started using this forum tonight by posting a question that I had no idea how to fix. I received an answer within minutes, as well as some advice on how to improve my design (which I didn't even ask for, but happy to have received).

I too am very thankful for the others who are so willing to spend their time helping people like me who really cannot give anything in return other than a thank you and a smile.

You guys make me look good! I hope that doesn't sound trashy ... but I am frequently tasked a little beyond the scope of my skills. I'm sure it's because I can never tell someone "No, I don't know how to do that". This doesn't normally present a problem as that IS how I learn best. Sometimes, however, the resources just aren't available or I just don't even know HOW to search for a solution for many of the conundrums I get myself in.

Thanks to this forum ... specifically shg, teylyn, daddylonglegs, Ricardo, Paul, & ravishankar ... I keep getting myself tasked beyond the scope of my skills ... and keep ending up here.

    MUCH love,
    del

I also want to express my thanks to everyone here that helped make my project a success. Because of all your help, my Excel driven automation project has won consideration over the others, and this is good for my small business. I am driving the design and manufacturing of my customer's tooling assembly using Excel for the user interface and data input. The customer's CAD user makes one mouse click, and the program builds the assembly and all the drawings based on the Excel configuration.

Thanks to you and this forum.

I'll add in my 2 cents. I'm extremely new to the VBA scene and eager to learn. I've made several posts here, and I know there's at least 1 or 2 where people answered, I got sidetracked and forgot to respond to thank them, but your help is GREATLY appreciated and I'm very grateful for the VBA experts who do donate their time to help out. I'll do my best to respond with at the very least a thank you from now on.

Re: Thanks for all the help

I came here only a few days ago knowing nothing more than how to use the "Record Macro" button. The patient and kind replies I have received here, despite the certainly beginner questions I needed help with that I am sure have been answered many times, have been wonderful.

I was given the task of taking student testing information from our district website (different pages for each grade level) and convert it into living graphs for each individual student (around 700 of them) in our school so that the teachers would be able to sit down with them to discuss how to improve their reading fluency.

What would have taken me a week to do individually has now taken me only a few days to learn to do it smarter, and when I have to do it again in 6 weeks, I'll be ready!

My knowledge is still limited, my skills are still low, but I feel more confident about tackling projects and about being able to look for and understand information that will help me. And I know I can come here for help.

Thank you for helping an old teacher learn a few new tricks,

I'm really new at the whole excel programming world, and have to say that all of the people on this site are real life savers. Through threads that other people have posted, and threads that I have posted, I've learned more in the last 3 weeks on excel than I have learned in the last 10 years. The responses I have received have been quick and almost instantly solves every problem that I've had. I greatly appreciate all the dedication and hard work everyone on this site puts in to help us noobs out. : )

This forum is fantastic! Thank you for making this VB noob feel welcome and hanging in there to help solve my problem. Now that I have a working macro, I'll be doing more scripting to generate reports based on the database I just made. I'm sure I'll be posting more questions.

Re: Thanks for all the help

Just wanted to say that I fell fortunate of beeing a member here. Thanks to you guys I've started to learn vba and every day I create a new workbook with a new chalenge. I didn't know how to use excell at all in 2009. Not even sum function or even simpler (if that's possible) functions. And now I'm creating scripts every day and I'm really loving it.
I'm thinking, seeing every day 100 new threads of problems really must be discouranging. Knowing that you could help but there's not enought time and as you solve 2 threads another appears and another and anooher..
For this I want to say "thank you" for all the help and time you've given me in my own threads and everyone elses. Some day (when I'll learn to master vba) I'll return the favor.

Re: Thanks for all the help

    Hi,
I too would like to add my thanks.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me out. On work experience in an investment bank I was told to create an expenses form that feeds into a spreadsheet by the douchiest boss ever. I do my research and tell him that he would be much better off hiring a professional computer programmer for a couple hours since I have no idea how to do it. He told me to "go away and think about it". No jokes. I'm going to be a lawyer damnit. how is this experience for that?
So thank you to everyone who solved my problems. There is no way I could have done it without you. I love my form now. I want to keep it and take it home with me and use it myself. Except I don't have any need for it. which actually upsets me.
    enough rambling
    THANK YOU

I wanted to convey my thanks to all the people that have helped me from this forum. 2 months ago I knew nothing about VBA. Between this forum and self learning, I can do things I never thought possible in Excel. Everyone that helps here seem to enjoy working with VBA because they all take time out of their own day to help others. Great job and thanks again.

It truly is amazing - The people on this forum are so helpful. I wonder what the total savings cost is for all of the help they have provided? I couldn't even begin to guess.
I do know within my company they have helped me save hours a week.

Does this site run on ad revenue alone?
Is there a place to donate?

Thanks for all your help. This forum and it's members are amazing resources!
