    Mods on strike/mobile app

I think today is the first time I've ever logged on and not seen a single moderator (other than Roy) in the who's online list.

Sign of the times? Sinking ship?

On another note has anyone downloaded the new app? Not planning to myself as I'm assuming it will kill my phone.

    Re: Mods on strike/mobile app

If we're short on mods (or the existing mods have other committments) then I'm happy to do a bit of modding. Feel free to say 'no', but I've moderated other forums, so I thought I'd make the offer.

As for the mobile app - not yet, I'm waiting for the iPhone version (I have a company iPhone, my personal mobile is capable of (a) sending texts and (b) talking to people who are far away, but it pre-dates 'apps'. In fact it pre-dates everything up to the wheel).

It's actually quite refreshing to see an Android app for something come out before the iPhone one. Although I'm guessing Apple won't sanction the iPhone one because it's too well programmed .

It is all starting to make sense now. The forum becomes unusable in a browser, then apps appear - probably free at first, but then comes a nominal fee...
    Good luck.

    Re: Mods on strike/mobile app

I already used the app in december 2011.
Much of the downgrading probably has to do with introducing apps we don't need.
The more visitors you get the more income you generate. That's what downgrading is about....

If the mods are all on strike (or worse), who are you expecting to get in touch with you? Vai?

I always assumed the Great and Wise Chief Moderator had to appear to you in a vision before you were granted their powers

We don't need moderators on a system that doesn't work... we need them on a system that does work... and we have/had them. When the system is proven to work again, then maybe those moderators would be willing to keep it working again.

    Re: Mods on strike/mobile app

Until I know that the Forum is running satisfactorily I would not ask any one to take on the thankless task of moderating. When this happens I'll find who if any of the moderators still want to carry on
    Hope that helps.

Roy, this honestly must make you sad at the state of affairs the site is in right now?

I've been moderating lately because the site seems stable.
