How To Become an EF Guru

How To Become a Forum Guru:
    • Only persons who have worked on their own to achieve Forum Expert status will be considered.
    • Persons must be nominated by someone already of Guru, Moderator or Admin status.
    • Don't be shy about promoting yourself. If you feel you are worthy (and didn't just get your Expert status yesterday!), then contact your Guru/Mod/Admin friends on the forum and ask them to consider nominating you. Fortune favors the bold.

Persons with Guru status have the following benefits:
    1. Your status will be changed to Forum Guru as an indication of your additional honored status and will appear as such on all your posts.
    2. You will have access to take a question from the Commercial Forum where OPs may offer questions and pay in Forum Points. Once you earn 100 Forum points, they can redeemed for cash or swag. Initially you will only be able to take a single question at a time, which may suffice depending on the activity in the CF as well as the number of active gurus.
      (1 Forum Point = 1 US dollar)
    3. You will have one vote when new gurus are being considered, or issues are being voted on regarding expiring a Guru's status or changes in certain Forum policies and processes.

Persons with Guru status acknowledge the following:
    1. Guru status is a privilege, not a right. The Expert status is the self-earned top status and that title will never be removed from those who have earned it.
    2. Guru status is not permanent nor automatic. You are receiving it at this time due to being nominated and the current Admins, Moderators and Gurus have elected to grant this status at this time. Welcome to the club!
    3. As a guru you are expected to follow all publicized forum rules, and endorse those rules within the threads you participate.
We prefer you not try to do actual moderation, simply pointing your OPs to the forum rules as a reminder is sufficient, or use the REPORT icon on those posts to draw an actual moderator to the event. As a Guru, we do ask you to refrain from ongoing participation in a thread with issues that need addressing.
    4. Professionalism at all times is a given.
    5. You will be expected to deal with your dissatisfactions and misgivings privately within the Guru/Moderator/Admin community and not in the open forum. You will have access to a special Veteran's Forum where all these discussions are freely pursued. The forum is far from perfect and evolving all the time, all Gurus and Mods and Admins must work as a positive-minded group in the public eye, and perfectly normal grumblings should still be aired, but in private, and with a nod towards positive suggestions for resolution.
    6. At any time, other behavior or activity not outlined here but considered among the Guru/Mod/Admin community as cause may result in expiring a person's Guru status.
