    Regarding Civil Discourse

    People DO want to be constructive, they're just fed up because they cant get straight answers most of the time and of course the growing number of issues on the forum taht haven't been fixed or even any feedback, thats why when you want to introduce something new they get upset because the basics haven't yet been taken care of.

    It's simply frustration which then gets out of hand, maybe a word from Vai on the ongoing issues in another thread may help appease them?

    Re: Regarding Civil Discourse

    This post (and others if necessary) was moved from this thread to here, as promised. A thread for this topic is warranted if the conversation is to continue.

    =======================

    Agreed, it can be upsetting as you describe. But how we express our dissatisfaction is always under our control. Just because I'm upset or angry about something, just because I'm convinced I'm right, that doesn't give me the right to say anything as viciously as I want to or about anyone, no matter how clever I think I am. It's my job to not tick off my audience if I actually want to be heard, isn't it?

    I can't believe how hard it is to get this simple side point across. If we all stop aiming personal barbs at one another and keep on topic, maybe all heads will stay cool enough to see progress, if there is any.

    And I find it sad to think that nothing new is acceptable because there are older issues that remain unresolved. (I presume you're referring to performance issues here on the forum.)

    Simon, I take your point, and I agree completely. However, Im sure even you will agree that comments like "dont know why you bother coming here" can hardly be constructive in any way, shape or form?

    No that wasn't constructive, you're right. Nor were any of your comments towards me, you just fueled things from that point on.

    I'm going to apologize for lack of tact with that comment, sorry. However, I'm definitely not the only person in the wrong here.

    JB, it's the same when you build or "improve" on anything, if your foundation isn't solid everything else above is bound to cause some irritation. This is what everyone is on about, please, please (not you obviously as you have no control) fix all the other stuff first so we can support future building blocks and move forward together - no one can understand why the powers that be don't see that!, until that's addressed I feel you'll (the forum as a whole) always get resistance and dismay amongst the members.

    I agree, however emotions were allowed to run high by that point because no solid answers or explanation were forth coming (as with JB not you but from the powers that be)

    Thank you all for relaxing the heat and getting back it issues. Thanks Mordred, your points about comments to you are not falling on deaf ears.
    And your apology is well received, thanks again.

    Simon, your voice of reason is refreshing. I'll do what I can in the communication department.
