Hello everyone,
I am currently running WindowsXP on my laptop. Its installed in C drive. Earlier, prior to XP's installation, i had installed Vista on another drive ( D drive). But after installation of XP, the system does not detect Vista. It only loads XP. But that doesn't matter for me coz i dnt want Vista for the time being. But now the real problem is that am unable to delete the "Windows" folder of Vista on the D: drive. When i try to delete, it says a message:... " Cannot delete bfsvc. Access is Denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use".. How do i delete that folder now? It consumes a whopping 7+ GB of HDD space. Please suggest me a solution of safely deleting that folder OTHER THAN FORMATTING THE DRIVE coz i hav lots of important stuffs in that drive.
Try going to file manager (i.e., win Explorer), right clicking the windows folder to check if the "read only" flag is set, then clearing it. There are also some individual files in the folder that are set as read only also.
You can also try starting in safe mode with command prompt only and using DOS commands to delete the directory.

There are probably very many system and hidden files and folders in the drive/partition that you have placed Vista in.
It is possible you would have to go through many sub-folders and files to find the ones needing the attributes changed.
The easiest way is to reformat the entire Vista drive. If you've installed XP and Vista on seperate 'physical' drives you should already know how to do this, if not read up on it first!
