Not able to create a folder named "CON"

Hi,

I am trying to create a folder named "CON" but it is automatically getting created in the name of "New Folder". Can anybody pls let me know the reason why I am unable to create a folder named "CON"?

I don't have access to Google in my system. Can you pls post the reason.

I have provided a link (not to Google) - if you can't access it I would ask why you're allowed here and not anywhere else.

In reality it's reserved (internal devices) - you would need to use Command Prompts to create/delete CON folder - given Internet restrictions I suspect that's not going to be viable...

Sorry to add so late to this feed might help other's reading

If you think Windows behaving like its dumm and you dunno quite why (take this COM folder example)

Here is a hack

try CON_ (add an underscore)

This way everything works ok and nothing is bizzar, good trick and top trick, never fails

do it from DOS
Start / Run / CMD / enter
MD CON

jack i disagree that folder wil be called CON_ . CON_ does not equal CON ,still donkeyote answered it all back in july'11(including using cmd prompt)

The Underscore is easier simple way any user with little effort can work aground the naming reserves that all I am saying
