    Low res Visio links

I have some linked visio diagrams in a word file. When I PDF the files, the Visio links have bad resolution to the point that text is unreadable. Any thoughts?

    Re: Low res Visio links

    Hi,

I've just run a test with Visio 2003 and Word 2003, so maybe it's different for 2007, but here are my findings:

Link one: in Visio select drawing with CTRL-A, copy and in Word paste normal (CTRL-V), then reduce size dramatically
in a PDF this will look grainy and pixelly

Link two: in Visio copy drawing from edit menu, in Word paste normal (CTRL-V), then reduce size dramatically
in a PDF this will look grainy and pixelly

Link three: in Visio copy drawing from edit menu, in Word paste special, select "as link", then reduce size dramatically
in a PDF this will look sharp, and you can zoom in for details.

I use Win2PDF as my PDF printer.

Avoid pie charts with more than two data points. Why? See here (pdf, 559 kb). The only acceptable pie chart is here.
