My .Doc files are corrupted to to some virus activity...and now whenever I open a file it show an encoding error... and when when I select Windows Default encodignoption it open an MS word file with different symbols as a content....I have almost 5k word files and all are quite important. I would appreciate any help in this regard.

Try opening with an OpenOffice program,or as html. Consider backing up in future
